I’ve posted about this a bit before, but only two of the five coasters.  Here I wanted to fully show case the whole set of mushroom coasters.  I started with the red and green using mini (6.5mm) pony beads from Wal-mart.  I had orange (although I don’t like this color orange much) but I did not have blue or purple so I ordered them along with some more white and black (and glow in the dark!).  So anyways, here’s the full set, all the coasters together; red, green, blue, orange, and the purple poison mushrooms!  There are a LOT more pictures here, so please keep reading!

Okay, I’ve been promising this post and talking about it for a loooong time, so here it is!  Like I’ve said a million times… yard sale blah blah blah, trying to sell stuff blah blah blah, making non-geeky stuff, and yeah, that’s about it.  I have a lot of ideas and a lot of patterns made up, it’s just been a matter of time in being able to do it and all.

So the first thing I wanted to show you guys is… a TRIFORCE wee!  These patterns were made in a program called Bead Tool which you can download and play around with, it’s pretty neat.  Can’t copy or print from the trial version though.  So here is my version of the Triforce, I’d use two shades, a gold and a more yellow gold like here.  This size would be the larger version, such as large mushroom.  This type of stitch would be very simple to make a smaller version that would look just the same.  Like the mushrooms this could go on necklaces, key chains, earrings, anything.  Even though I haven’t made one yet, if you just have to have one please email me and see the How to Order page for pricing info and all.

Okay, so the blog is titled ‘Geek Beads’ and everyone that’s read so far is probably thinking “WTF! I haven’t see anything geeky yet!”  Well today I’ll give you geeky!  And yey I got better pictures of what I wanted to show, for the most part.  My camera apparently has a ‘face recognition’ thing and I have to force it to focus on things.

So one of the first things I decided to try to make is something from a classic.  The mushrooms from Mario.  I came up with two designs, which I will show you here.  There’s a large mushroom, that has more detail, that I’ve used for key chains and the center piece of a necklace.  Here is one of the key chains I’ve made.  I’ve only made a green one (1-up) so far, but it would be simple to make red ones, as well as any other color seen in the Mario games.  I’m very happy with that picture!

So my beading career actually began long long ago.  Every summer when I was between 5th and 7th grades, I participated in a Summer FAIR program (FAIR standing for Fine Arts In Rockbridge).  One summer a beading class was offered so I thought I’d take it and I loved it.  This class gave me the basic on how to make beadwork, follow patterns, etc.  I had a lot of fun with it, but after that I never did much with it, a little bit here and there, start projects and never start, you know how it goes with hobbies sometimes.  This little amulet purses is one of the things I made in that class.  Sorry the picture quality isn’t the best, it’s hard to find good light in my house.

Hello fellow gamers, geeks, dorks, and nerds!   Welcome to my cozy little blog, however you may have stumbled here.  If you are here by accident, please stay!  I may have something that might just tweek your geeky interests.

So I have always been not so much an artsy person, I don’t draw, paint or sculpt, but I have always liked crafts.  Just plain making things, which seems fitting in all aspects of my life.  I’m a recent graduate in Engineering, so there’s some design and building there; I love to cook, more creating things that are quite tasty mind you; and I enjoy beading.
