This is something I’ve been wanting to do for quiet a while, I’ve just had a hard time finding the proper colors.  I suppose it isn’t all that geeky either, but oh well!  I finally found the right colors (orange and maroon, DUH!) at a local place called Beadsburg.  It’s your typical beading place, but I didn’t even know it existed until recently.  Anyways, I knew that since it was near my school, they HAD to have our school colors and sure enough they did.  So here are some of the creations I’ve made with these awesome colors.

I got two sizes, an 11/0 and an 8/0, in both orange and maroon.  I figured I would find something to do with both sizes, and sure enough I have! The first thing I made was some twisted orange and maroon bobby pins.  They’re quick and easy to make and something I’d actually use.  I also gave a pair to my cousin since she wants to go to Tech (she’s only like 7 too!).

I also have some large bobby pins, they’re much bigger than these, that I plan on using some of the bigger beads to do twisted or single color pins, I just haven’t had the time to do it yet.

I’ve posted about this a bit before, but only two of the five coasters.  Here I wanted to fully show case the whole set of mushroom coasters.  I started with the red and green using mini (6.5mm) pony beads from Wal-mart.  I had orange (although I don’t like this color orange much) but I did not have blue or purple so I ordered them along with some more white and black (and glow in the dark!).  So anyways, here’s the full set, all the coasters together; red, green, blue, orange, and the purple poison mushrooms!  There are a LOT more pictures here, so please keep reading!

One of the things I’ve been working on at some Rupees from Zelda.  I designed two versions, a  small and a large.  I started with red, just because I like red and I figured it was one of the highest.  Here’s a basic guideline for the ‘value’ of each rupee.

Green = 1
Bluee = 5
Yellow = 10
Red = 20
Purple = 50
Orange = 100
Silver = 200
Gold = 300

So here are the rupees I’ve made so far, the small and large together.

My geek drink of choice is, of course, Mt. Dew.  I’m also a bit of a neat freak so I use coasters.  Even if you don’t use them they’d make a nice display for your geeky buddies who are over for your LAN party.

I believe I mentioned coming up with this idea a few posts back and I picked up a mix pack of mini pony beads.  I      used the same pattern from the large seed bead mushrooms I’ve been doing and it turned out to be the perfect size.   Here’s the green one I did.  These are a little flexible, but I think they’d work well as a coaster.

I have quiet a lot of the hoop earrings, as you’ve seen from the black and red ones I’ve used with other things.  I have a TON of silver ones and I happened across these large-ish crystal beads and I happened across the idea of being able to string stuff across the center of the hoops.  This i what I came up with.   This is one of the medium size hoops, I think it turned out pretty well.

And here are all of the sizes I’ve made.

Another short post, but I just wanted to show some of the new things I’ve made.  These are up on the How to Order page, so if you’re interested, please check it out or contact me.

I’ve been working on a bunch of designs on Triforces.  The first design I made (number 4) didn’t turn out like I hoped as the colors don’t stand out against each other.  So I kept trying with different color variations as seen here.  What I’d like to do with this post is for people to vote on the ones they like best.  Either by commenting on the post with the number you like or responding to the poll I’ve made.

The link to the poll can be found below.  Thanks!

You’ve seen the red earrings I did with the white and blue, so I decided to play around with the black ones.  I thought that gold and silver would go well with black.  I suppose these didn’t turn out  quite as well as I thought they would, but they’re not bad, just not my thing.  They actually look kind of Egyptian.  I also couldn’t use the clear cord like I did on the red earrings, the black ones were flat and the beads wouldn’t sit flush against it using the cord, so I used black thread and it seemed to work better.  I had intended to do some dangles on these as well, but they just didn’t look very good.

So the set on the top is a single row of silver on the black.  The bottom left is silver and gold, and the bottom right is just gold.

The yard sale is finished and I was able to finish getting my Etsy shop set up and get some items posted.  Please check there, if I do well I will continue to post items for sale there and use the blog primarily to show case my creations and allow a resource for custom orders.  My Etsy shop can be found at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/geekbeads, please check it out!

Also, I made a deviantART page for Geek Beads.  Nothing you won’t see here, just another way to spread the word about my work!

So the biiiig event was this weekend.  I was a little disappointed, but as my boyfriend said, people were looking for dirt cheap deals, not hand made goods with an appropriate price.  I did manage to sell a few items, three pairs of earrings, a necklace, and some of the bobby pins.  The stuff that I still have I will be posting on Etsy eventually (as well as will be for sale on the blog until then).  Anyways, I thought I’d show a few pictures of my display and all.  So here is the over all display I had the first day (my dad set it up the next few days and I didn’t get pictures, but oh well).

Yep, time for more butterflies.  I’ve had a lot of free time the last few days making stuff for the yard sale and watching over the sale and all that, so I finally used the three green glass butterfly pendants I bought a few weeks back.  I had to find some bails the other week though so that I would be able to use them as a jump ring wasn’t big enough.  I didn’t take pictures of the full necklaces this time, so if you are interested in seeing more pictures (laid out flat or being worn) please email me.  The first one I put on a strand with dark green clear seed beads and a larger silver lined bead in small increments.  I think this one looks pretty nice, especially if you love green.  In addition, the card I made myself using a label with my blog address to encourage anyone that purchases something to visit my blog and see more stuff and whatnot.  I think the cards make it look more professional as well.

The second one I made with a silver lined green because I had (I thought) ran out of the other kind, I only had about 20 or so left after making the first necklace.  This one I decided to do a double strand style, that is doing two strands of small beads between each large bead, using the same large beads as the first.

And the last one, where I *thought* I had run out of the clear dark green beads… I found a whole other flip top full of them, so I decided to use those again because it goes better with the green on the butterfly.  However, I did actually run out of the large green beads so I decided to go with a dark blue silver lined.  I think the blue really pops on this one and it was my favorite.  I also didn’t personally like the double strand so I did another single strand.

As usual, if you like any of these, they are all for sale (unless I manage to sell them in the last day of the yard sale tomorrow, which right now looks doubtful).  The prices will be up on the How to Order page.  I have more posts to come, including more earring designs and some more bobby pins (mostly to show case some different colors) as well as the success (or failure) of the yard sale this weekend.
